Our school is a public primary school run under the auspices of the Department of Education of the North West Province. It is an English Medium multicultural school of 1092 learners from grade 1 to 7, with four classes per grade, with the largest majority of learners representing the Setswana population group found in the North West. Most of these learners are from disadvantaged backgrounds and come from the units and villages around Mmabatho and Mafikeng. We, however, also have children from the Indian, Coloured and White population groups. The staff and management of the school are also multicultural and fully representative of our rainbow nation. The School Governing Body also represents this range of multicultural representivity, with dedicated and skilled parents, from a wide selection of careers, that have the best interests of the school and its learners at heart. Our class sizes range from 37 per class, although this number should be reduced to enable better individual attention. We also have another 115 learners in a pre-school which prepares four classes of learners in a grade R(0) class for entry into the main school. This level was started chiefly to help with the introduction of English to the children whose first language is Setswana. However, all Pre-School skills also receive the necessary attention. |
